American Institute of Chemical Engineers

AIChE is the global home for chemical engineers. It aims to create awareness about the recent developments in chemical engineering and inspire young minds to find out better alternatives to combat global challenges. It enlightens its members about recognized, promising chemical engineering processes and methods and provides them a platform to connect with a global network of intelligent, resourceful colleagues and their shared wisdom. AIChE' s vision is to provide value as the Global Leader of the Chemical Engineering profession. Founded in 1908, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is a nonprofit organization providing leadership to the chemical engineering profession representing more than 60,000 members in industry, academia, and government.

Our Mission

To encourage the budding engineers to unravel the consummate technology that would not only satisfy human needs but also foster a sustainable Eco-friendly environment.
To teach each fellow participant the essence of team work, mutual co-operation and co-ordination through the following events.

Here are some Milestones that we reached in our short span of time.

Winners of Global UG video competition

In the Annual Student Conference (ASC) 2018 of AIChE held at Pittsburgh, USA, our student chapter won the 1st prize at the international level in the public voting category along with a prize money of $500. Most of the AIChE student chapters throughout the globe had participated in it. The theme of the competition was “Chemical Engineering in Water Treatment.”

AIChE Student Regional Conference (SRC)- India 2018

Students from most of the AIChE student chapters and chemical engineering institutions across India participated in the Chem-E-Jeopardy event in SRC 2018 held at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India on 11th-12th August 2018. In this event our student chapter emerged triumphant by securing the 1st position at the national level. As the National Level Winners, we were invited to participate in the same event in the Annual Student Conference 2018 at Pittsburgh, USA. This event was aimed at testing the understanding of UG Chemical Engineering fundamentals.

Azeotropy 2019

In Azeotropy 2019- The Chemical Engineering Symposium of IIT Bombay, our team was declared the 2nd runners up in the 'Pump It' competition for our model of a centrifugal pump. The competition was aimed at coming up with an electrically powered model of a centrifugal pump designed to transport the fluid (water) through a given hydraulic network and manipulate the flow parameters to generate electricity.

Our Club

The AIChE NITR Student Chapter saw its inception in the year 2016 under the able and elite guidance of the Faculty Advisor of the club Dr. Sujit Sen from Department of Chemical Engineering. Since 2016 the club has grown manifolds carving a niche for itself among the active student chapters of India. The club members have perpetually toiled hard to promote among the students the urgency of a sustainable environment and the significance of technology to accomplish this purpose. The club has always encouraged its members to utilize their wits to mould the technology in an Eco-friendly manner.

NIT Rourkela

NIT Rourkela, one of the elite institutions of national importance in the country is situated in the steel city of Rourkela in the eastern province of Odisha. The campus of NIT Rourkela spreads over 1200 acres sheltering the bright minds from all parts of the country leading to a vibrant and rich cultural diversity in the institute.The student fraternity is always involved and engaged in ways to devise enhanced and beneficial technologies for the mankind. In the recent NIRF ranking, it was ranked the 12 among all elite institutes of India. Also, it was ranked 138 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Ranking 2018.
